COLUMBIA COUGARS: Three Cougars Earn All-Conference Awards

Columbia Cougars issued the following announcement on March 9.

The American Midwest Conference announced the members of the Men's Basketball All-Conference teams today following the final of the AMC Championships. Justin Shaw was named Second-Team All-Conference, Thibault Benabid and Braden Wendel were named Honorable-Mention All-Conference and Wendel was also named All-Defensive Team.

Shaw, a 6-4 guard from Memphis, Tennessee, started all 32 games for the Cougars leading the team in assists with an average of 3.25 a game and a total of 104. He scored a career high 22 points, dished out a career high seven assists, and picked up a career high 14 rebounds against Central Baptist. Shaw shot 41 percent from the field, 24 from three, and 74 from the line for the season, finishing with 358 points.

Thibault Benabid, a senior out of Brunstatt, France, led the team in points averaging 12.0 a game, rebounds averaging 7.53, and blocks averaging 1.50. He scored a career high 23 points against William Woods, rebounding high of 15 and block high of seven against Park. Benabid shot 52 percent from the field, 33 from three, and 68 from the line, finishing the season with a total of 384 points. He also finished the season with a total of 241 rebounds and 48 blocks.

Senior Braden Wendel out of Jackson, Missouri, scored a career high of 24 points against Harris-Stowe and a career rebounding high of nine against William Woods. Wendel shot 53 percent from the field, 34 from three, and 73 from the line, finishing the season with a total of 286 points. He also finished the season with a total of 116 rebounds and 27 blocks.
